Pine shavings smell so strong and question about outside temps

Are they suppose to?

It's 81 F outside and humid it's that to hot to let the chicks in the barn to play especially the way the pine shaving smell.
Plenty of ventilation one side of the coop is unclosed just closed in with wire with a nice breeze blowing
 
They can get strong, and those fumes are not entirely harmless, even to people. You might want to let it blow out for a day, or put them in there for a play period and take them out for tonight. Maybe even run a fan, at least til the fumes settle down.

People have been putting day old chicks on pine shavings for a long time, though. Up to you.

81 shouldn't be too hot. The danger stage is 100, I've read, but of course the amount of breeze and shade make a difference.
