pineapple for chickens

personally.. i'll not feed my chickens everything

since you might not see the instant result from most of the foods.. but giving them in large amount and over time.. eh.. i'll not take the risks.. unless chickens can talk and let you know what's going on with them -- like the food you just gave me blah.. blah. .?..

but it's just my opinion

Other internet feeds say pineapple is fine for chickens. I have some frozen pineapple I am about to give them store bought. If anything stays in the freezer over six months either the dogs or the chickens get it. I just wanted to comment on the weed thing. Whenever I weed the yard (as long as it is not in the night shade family) I give it to my chickens. Young trees seedlings, odds and ends of weeks they get daily. I have just started my wheat fodder system for feed and I am very excited about cutting my feed bill to 1/4 of what it now is. If you interested in fodder feeding utube has several clips on fodder systems.

Every time I cut up a pineapple - probably at least once a month - the chickens (and ducks) get the core and rinds. The chickens will pick off every bit of flesh on the rind. I'd call them big pineapple fans.

I also give them the fruit left after making water kefir, and I recently watched two pullets fighting over a piece of fermented lemon - one was trying to pull the lemon slice out of the other's beak.

I will chime in on this. I give pineapple, citrus, uncooked okra, basically everything you find in the supermarket fruit and veggie section.

I went to my nearest supermarket, showed a couple of pictures what hand chop for our girls every morning. The produce mgr. Now sells me a large box of "expired" fruits veggies for $4.00. I have been feeding our girls this for a very long time and every day.

Oh, I have add that I chop orange rinds, pineapple rinds into eatable bite size pieces for the girls. My egg production is excellent, I get more than 1 egg at times in a 24 hour period. Also I have 5, just shy of a year old RIR pullets.

Nice presentation - definitely looks good enough to eat! :thumbsup

Gave the chickens some pineapple scraps yesterday. Everybody appears to be fine ... and there are no scraps in the run. Took a while for them to figure out what to do with "pineapple," as they don't readily embrace anything "new."

Hi

We have a sick hen , took her to the vet she cannot poop and is listless.
Vet said there is no problem with her crop. There is a problem with her Gizzard.
The Vet said to give the hen a syringe full of pineapple juice 3 times a day .
We dont know the results yet .My wife has gone off to buy the juice .
