pinion?

I recently wrote an essay which included a section on pinioning. It's not very nice

Granted it's permanent (so no clipping feathers after every moult) and if done at a few days old it shouldn't cause any major problems or pain etc, but I don't really like the idea of cutting part of its wing off :S
