Pip to zip to hatch can it take quite a while?

Just to update what's going on. Crusty is doing just fine but was quite lonely til "Lucky" joined him.

I think the humidity was too low--upped it to 70% and am seeing how it goes.

Lucky had pipped and zipped yesterday AM but I could tell that the membrane was stuck to him. He had a nice size hole but was stuck. I did help him out a little earlier today. I carefully nicked away some shell and then using a q-tip I moistened the membrane and peeled it off of him. He just popped right out! Yolk sac was absorbed and he is now in the brooder with Crusty.

I did have to remove some more sticky areas so that his wings were free, but he is drying and fluffing and hopping around. Fingers crossed he'll be OK.

Crusty stands right by him like he's on guard.

I went to take out the very first one that pipped on Thursday night only to find him loudly peeping. I was sure that he hadn't made it.

Time will tell.

BTW if you hear peeping doesn't that mean they have broken through to the air cell?

Thanks for all your tips and suggestions!
