I have had that happen. Pip and then quit and die.
Usually means they weren't strong enough to survive, so better off. Hop ethe rest go well.

Yep give it another day and by Friday morning maybe something will have happened. If not probably wasn't meant to be for that little one.
The great thing about having a 'Bator is you can always hatch out more!

Good luck!

This is sort of odd... But by the smell of my hatching eggs (the inside of the eggs, not the outside), I am able to determine when they are ready to be hatched, if they get stuck and need assistance... They get this really yolky, sort of bad smell. Hard to explain. But it smells certainly different from an egg in which there is a gosling with a yolk sac still attached and blood vessels still connected. Really weird, but that's how I do things.

UPDATE the remaining 3 didn't hatch. 2 died in the last couple of days and the 3rd was about to do something and died. I have decided to buy a new thermometer and egg turner to hopefully change the outcome next time around. Thanks for all the helpful comments and if anyone out there might have a suggestion, please post them. I think that I need all the help I can get.

I would suggest you try running a bit lower humidity during the first 18 days on the next batch. Just my personal opinion.

As a rule I don't add humidity until day 18 as someone else suggested so it running 20% this time was just from the room humidity itself. I just read the book again and it stated to remove the red plugs for hatching, I haven't done it before, but should I have done that? Last year I didn't have problems except for my errors on hatching and pulling out the chicks too soon and the humidity dropping at the end.

Any other suggestions out there.

I am using a still air with a turner this time compared to egg carton method last few times.
