My first one popped out of nowhere unexpectedly! I didn't expect it to hatch til 2 days later.... ran some errands came back home and heard some noise. Turn to look and there it was, freaked me out!

And we have our first baby!!!!! (Hubby lost $20 to the kids betting on time) (s)he sat pipped all day long and once zipping started it was over in an hour. We have a cute time lapse video but I don’t know how to post that here! He is half Ayam cemani and half golden laced Wyandotte or buff Orpington not sure which. He keep hiding from the camera now though so this is the best picture I could get for now.

I have an egg that pipped today anywhere between 10 and 3pm. We hot home at 3 and I saw the egg pupped, I heard cheeping, normal sounds but since then nothing. It has been 8 hours since I noticed. Is it normal for the chick to not make any sound for this long?

I am so tempted to take it out and look even though I know I shouldn’t.

And this is totally the wrong spot to pip but since I heard the sound, I thought it was ok and breathing. It must have opened right at the time I heard it cheep. There is also a hairline fracture on the lower right. I thought it was hair but from an another angle I can clearly see it is a crack line. There was a spot of blood right at the opening. It seems to have turned brown, about a 1 mm spot.

This is the best picture I can take from the outside. I used a flash light to shine it.

Jeez the wait is killing me.
