Any updates for the duckling? Violet has sooooo many colors! Please post pics of the duckling when it hatches.
The duckling will probably think he/she is a chicken.

'Little One' is still wiggling all over the place! I'm watching for signs of it internally pipping or absorbing its yolk. Call ducks tend to need help hatching, so once I see an internal pip, I'll probably have to get in there and at least give it an air hole in the shell, just to be safe. I'm getting anxious!! There will definitely be pictures if a duckling hatches!

Little One update ~ Today was supposed to be the hatch date. However, it doesn't look like the baby is ready yet. It has not yet internally pipped or absorbed the yolk/veins in the shell. I suspect that because the temp was just a degree too low for a short while in the incubator that the hatch date has been delayed. 'Little One' is still moving around in the shell, but it has become cramped enough that the egg is not rocking much at all anymore. I was so scared earlier thinking it had died, because when I candled it at around 3:00 the baby wasn't moving at all! To my relief, it's moving around again as of my candling it just minutes ago! Phew!

I will, of course, keep y'all updated on everything that happens between now and the hopeful hatch in the coming days! It could be any day now!!



And as for the babies (who are truly not babies anymore!) they are getting along surprisingly well in the big-girl flock! Today, the Dorkings and Mabel were actually mingling with some of the big girls! I have not let them free-range yet, but I feel their time is coming. My babies are growing up! I'm so proud!!

After a long, grueling night... 'Little One's head has finally broken free of its shell!! e

No pictures yet--baby is resting after all that hard work!

'Little One' has officially hatched as of 3:30 or so this morning, EST!! I think I can sleep now. I'll probably have pictures later today--G'night!
