I had the babies out in a makeshift corral today. Of course, the first thing they did was try to dust bathe.

Thanks, y'all. Lightchick, the littles are about 3 1/2 weeks old and the Legbars are about 4 1/2 weeks old. Just a little younger than your babies!


I thought I'd let y'all know I have an announcement that I'll be posting here probably soon--but I don't want to say anything until it actually begins, so stay tuned for that, everyone. It's gonna be super exciting! e

Okay, well I would have gotten back to you sooner, but I went out to check on the big girls last night and found my poor Campine, Ihi, missing most of her tail. Further inspection found a bare strip up her back and a couple small spots where the skin was broken. No bleeding, no infection, but the neighbor's dog was running guiltily back toward their house, so I can only assume that it was responsible. I'm sitting outside with the girls now so they can free range safely. :/

Poor Ihi had such a nice fantail before... (Don't mind the crappy cell phone picture... Or Sora's butt providing a prosthetic tail for her--she has just one tail feather left!)

Anyway, I'm not saying anything more about the announcement, but it looks like tomorrow's the day, so stay tuned!!

For now, here's just a few baby pictures for the day. Tomorrow, they're another week older, so I'll have more pictures then. I didn't feel like trying to wrangle them, so I cleared a spot in the brooder and sat in with the babies. They just love having a jungle-gym to sink their little razor-claws into! But we had fun, save for the not once, not twice, but three times I got pooed on!

Today, I got sick of cleaning the shavings out of the babies' feeder and waterer, so they're hanging now!

Mabey, Mabey, Mabey... (And don't mind the droppings. They love perching on the end of the EcoGlow.)
