Pipd's Peeps!

Pics
Almost forgot to post! Integration is going really well and the babies might as well be in the big flock at this point. I'm leaving the fence panel up one last night to be safe, and then it comes down permanently and the babies will be in the big flock. This comes with the decision to keep Ben in a crate overnight so that the babies aren't trapped in the coop with him first thing in the morning, just in case. Winter seems to know not to mess with them, for now at least, but I don't trust Ben at all.

Anyway, individual baby pictures today, 10 weeks and 1 day old:

Callette the Silver Gray Dorking:

Cazzie the Blue Cochin on her rock:

I also grabbed pictures of the other three Silkie fuzzies! Y'all braced for this? The boys have grown SO MUCH since their last pictures! The girls have, too, but it's much more obvious with Ben and Winter.

Benjamin:

Winty:

Indigo:

Here's Marky's picture again from yesterday:

One last picture, because it's the only one that turned out well of the few I took of the older birds today. Reub!

Okay, I'm tired. G'night, y'all! :)

The chickens are growing so much I couldn't believe Ben and Winter how much they have changed. They've turned into beautiful roo's. Indigo has finally grown into her top knot and Marka looks so prim and proper.

Cazzie loves that rock doesn't she? She is always standing on top of it in her pictures. She is so cute. Their all looking so grown up now and beautiful.

Thanks so much for sharing their pics they make my day.

By popular demand, some pictures of Crashie today! :D She is molting, so looking pretty rough and she's being a little spitfire as a result.

1000

Look at her poor, spiky head!

1000

:love I love her little smile! :love

A couple days ago, I brought Crash down to her living room pen and put her in, then went to refill her waterer. By the time I got back from that, she literally just dropped all but one of her long flight wing feathers! All at once!! She has since lost the last one, as you can see here. (She was suspicious about the camera being above her. )

1000

New feathers are so itchy!!

1000

She decided abruptly to join me on the couch.

1000

My little ducky. :love :love (She didn't want me to hug on her, though :tongue )

Crash is beautiful even when she is moulting. I love that little smile and those fuzzy feathers on her head. You can tell she has a little attitutude just by looking at those eyes. Thanks so much for posting her pics. I love you Crashie.

We began building the covered porch / aviary on the coop this morning! :D Had to stop here because we need to run in and buy more hardware, but here's what we got done! (Don't mind the mess... )

1000

The finished structure will be twice the length shown here. We're going to build the deck part, then add the roof later as we're able to get the supplies. Yay! :D More pictures to come as we build!

By the way, Iddy Biddy, Merlin, Debra Jo, Ani, and Fancy are supervising the build, as you can see in this picture.

Editing to add, oh hey! This was my 6000th post! :celebrate

Thats going to be so nice the chickens are going to love it. You know you always have some chickens that want to be carpenters and then there is some that want to be gardeners. Then if you get the grill going some of them want to be chefs.

Oh, yes, they make the best building inspectors! Luckily we have our grill in the back yard where it's fenced off for the dogs. They're hard enough to keep away without the chickens helping!

So no new pictures because it started raining right after we finished building yesterday, but we got half of the deck done yesterday so the girls now have an 8x8 porch right outside their door! They were confused last night (especially Winter, who had a panic attack trying to get to the coop without touching the scary new thing in the way  ), and again this morning when I opened the coop and there wasn't an immediate step down out of their coop. This afternoon when I let them out to free-range, however, a whole group was sitting on their new deck, preening and socializing. I think they like it so far. :love Too bad now there's poo all over it and I've got to finish putting some screws into the deck to make sure it's held down securely. :he

I know they are creatures of habit one little change sits them off. They also like to mark their territory. I'm sure the deck has got all those little accidents that they have.

When you get that all screened in will you be able to leave the coop door open in the summertime? That is going to give them so much more room too.

It rains here just about every afternoon. It will get real dark then the wind starts blowing and it starts pouring down. Ten minutes later the sun is back out again. At least I don't have to water my flowers very much this summer.

Have a nice day and I hope you all don't get that rain this afternoon like we did.
