Pipd's Peeps!

Pics
Cute cute and more cute. I don't like to say this but their growing. Don't you wish you keep them this size for at least a couple of months? Umru looks so different with her eyes open wide. She still looks like a little bear.

Thanks so much for sharing their pics with us. I love them all.

Oh, yes, they should stay this small for at least 6 months. :love But then, if I ever miss the little fuzzies I still have the Silkies. They're bigger than chicks, but at least they have kind of the same fluffiness. :D

Anyway, here are the rest of the pictures--I said there were a lot today and I mean it! :p

Here comes the Attention Squad! If there's attention to be had, they want it! Notice, some of the 'camera crew' is in there, too. ;)

Umru and Izzy sitting together :love Izzy's got that silent plotting look on her face...

Cochin cuties!! :love Cazzie and Flury

And close ups of the two of them. Cazzie:

And Flury:

Cuddle time with Rooska. :love I guess she didn't approve of pictures during her cuddle time.

1000

My grumpy bear :love I just want to snuggle her and her li'l grumpy face!! :love

1000

Donnie boy, being a handsome young man!

1000

Endymion's head pattern. I love it, so pretty! :love It almost looks like she has a heart on her head!

1000

Here's Endy and Cazzie eating, with Umru trying to get in there, too.

1000

Umi finally got to the food and did not want to be disturbed. Grumpy face :love

1000

Here's Flury posing ballerina style again :love

1000

Rooska's serious face!

1000

Have you met Izzy, my parrot?

1000

Lydda, precious little lady :love

1000

Umru. Err, I guess she stepped in something?

And finally, Cazzie. I was trying to get a picture of her leg feathers coming in, but I love how she posed for this one! Her and her little poof tail :love

I sound like a broken record here but they are just to cute for words. Endy has the prettiest pattern I have ever seen on a chick and it does look like a heart. Their little personalities are coming out in the pics. Love the little fluff ball tails. Thanks so much for sharing their pics they make my day.

I hope you have a nice day today. My great granddaughter is coming over this morning. We love spending time with her.

Hope you had fun with your great granddaughter! I went to the zoo this morning and had lots of fun watching the animals. I believe I've mentioned this before on this thread, but they have a 'family farm' petting zoo section with a chicken coop containing bantam Salmon Faverolles. Every time I go, I'm reminded how pretty those little birds are and how much I want some!! :love They also have three male white Call Ducks that are just the coolest and most relaxed little guys! They're pretty big compared to my calls, though. I think side by side they would be about twice the size of Crashie. I can't be sure on that because I won't ever be able to compare them that closely, but they are for sure bigger than Crash.

So I did spend time with my babies when I got back, but I didn't take pictures. :( Instead, I got a video! :D The babies have discovered 'carpet bathing' now that I've started letting them out on the carpet occasionally. In this video, Callette, Lydda, and Umru are 'bathing' while Endymion and Cazzie get in the way as much as possible. Lydda's terrified of my phone, so she kind of froze when she realized she was being recorded.

Cazzie has finally warmed up to me, which makes me happy. At first, she was a bit standoffish. Not shy, I could reach in and touch her and everything, but she would kind of step backwards a few steps when I reached toward her and didn't like being picked up at all. Today, she was hopping into my hand for me to lift her up into my lap. Rooska and Izzy got lap time, too, and Endymion was all over the place, silly little squirt!

I did take a second video, too, but I'm kind of torn about it. I think it's funny, but also kind of sad. You see, I replaced the Dorkings' leg bands today because Lydda's was getting pretty close and I figured I'd just get them all done at once. Well, since I'm relatively sure Donnie is the boy, I replaced his pink band with a blue band. It freaked him out like I've never seen before! He was side-stepping in circles trying to get away from it, all the while the other chicks were poking at it curiously. He's so scared that it makes me feel awful, but his little circles (and the fact that he's terrified of it because it's the wrong color of all things  ) are so funny! My phone probably doesn't have enough power left to upload that video right now, but I may get around to it eventually. We'll see. :)

I wish our zoo had a petting zoo with chickens. You spend the whole day with the animals and your not allowed to touch anything. Now I know another chicken on your wish list. The salmon faverolles.

The video was too cute. They;ve got the dust bathing down to fine art.
big_smile.png
That is so funny that they do things without a mother teaching them. It's just a natural thing.

I had a great time with Aubree today. I think we have another chicken and duck lover. She loves to pet them and watch them run. She was walking towards the coop and Phyllis my polish hen come out and she looked at her and stopped and backed up a few steps. I told her that was Phyllis and she wouldn't hurt her. I guess a chicken with a hair doo like that is a little scary.

That's funny that Donnie was scared of the new leg band because it was a different color. I was meaning to ask you why he had a pink band.
big_smile.png
The other chicks noticed it too. I think they are smarter then most people give them credit for.

Thanks for the video I would still like to see the other one if its not to much trouble..

Aww, that stinks! The chickens at the zoo up here are in a coop where you can't pet them, but the ducks can be touched--if they come close enough! They also have goats, donkeys, sheep, pigs, and a cow that can be petted if they're close enough. The cow is so funny if you go first thing in the morning because she is always mooing and mooing for her breakfast! Yep, the chicken 'want list' doesn't get any shorter.

Donnie had the pink band because I put them on before really looking at the Dorkings to determine who was who. That band looked more reddish to me at first, so I didn't really think about it. Then I started noticing that it looked more pink, especially in pictures. Oops! Obviously, Donnie prefered it pink! He seems okay with his band now, though.

I never uploaded that video, oops. I'll get around to it eventually. Probably. :p

For now, pictures! The babies were having a grand ol' time out on the carpet this evening! The Dorkings especially had a fun time 'dust bathing'.

1000

Umru was being a cutie :love

1000

Cazzie decided to hop into my lap. She then promptly gave me attitude for taking her picture there.

1000

Donnie made himself at home there. :love

1000

Umru's sweet face :love :love

1000

Rooska can't decide if she likes to perch in my hand at not. She gave me looks for trying to adjust her to a more stable position in my palm instead of on my finger.

1000

And Endymion was testing out her wings big time today!!

1000

It was pretty late, so the babies soon started settling in for the night. Flury was on top of the EcoGlow while the others were settling in, and it almost looked like she was coordinating their sleeping spots.

1000

"You go there, and you go there, and you're over there..."

1000

Umru just sat back and waited for everyone to settle down already...

1000

Callette crashed! :love

1000

My three precious Dorkings :love :love :love

1000

And finally, Izzy and Rooska all snuggled for the night. :love Best buds!

Precious pics of them all. Do the dorkings usually stay togeather as a goup? The pic of Endy flying is amazing. I can't wait to see what color she turns out to be. She looks huge to almost the size of Umru. I love little Donnies new blue band. I really think he liked the pink too. The little poses for the camera are adoreable.

Thanks so much for sharing the pics with us they make my day. Give them all little huggies from me.

No, the Dorkings are usually doing their own thing. That's why that picture was particularly adorable. :love Endy is the second largest chick, good eye. She's not quite as large as Umru, but she is a little heavier than Umi, so she's just more compact.

No pictures from yesterday, except a couple I took on my phone but they're so awful. :p I sat with them at their bed time again last night. They go to sleep about 8:15 pm or so, a good 45 minutes before I go out to close the outside coop for the night. They are so precious when they're settling down for the night. They peep to each other and shift and zonk out one by one. :love That's another thing I'll have to catch on video, if nothing else just a recording of their sweet peeping.

Lydda and Rooska were being darlings last night, though. They both snuggled side by side on my lap with my hand around them and nestled down like they wanted to sleep there. :love The peeping must have been beckoning to them, though, because they both changed their minds and joined their friends in the brooder. I've got to say, though, I thought Callette was going to be like Elda at first as far as attention seeking, but Lydda is becoming more like Elly every time I'm up there and Callette is more like Kit was, not starved for attention but enjoying it anyway. Either way, I love me my Dorkings. :love

After Lydda and Rooska left, Cazzie hopped into my lap, and I'm pretty sure she would have stayed there all night if I had let her. Caz has really become a love lately! She'll hop right into my lap and snuggle, and if I'm not paying attention to her, she stands right up on her tippy-toes, stretches out her neck, and looks at me like, "Hello? Where's my attention?!"

Sigh... I just adore them. :love

I actually need to get pictures of the fuzzies outside, though! Yesterday was their day, but I was so tired when I got home from harp that I just sat around all afternoon. So hopefully I will get some nice pictures of them this afternoon to share! :D They're getting along fabulously in the big-girl flock, no problems at all, so they shouldn't be too difficult to take pictures of. Not like when they would disappear into the bushes, anyway!

Oh, and a certain big-nosed little ducky's hatchday is coming up this weekend... I'll have to get things planned in a hurry to celebrate. :D

Tell Crash I said happy hatchday. I hope she enjoys her day with you.

I thought the dorkings always hung out togeather because in the pics their always togeather. I guess they just like their group photos.

The cherps at night are adoreable. We used to call it the sleepy songs. I hope you can get a recording of it I really miss the songs.

The silkies I know are growing by leaps and bounds. I would love to see their photos. I'm glad their getting along with everyone in the coop. Their such a gentle natured chicken.

Thanks so much for sharing the chicks with us. I love reading about them. Have a great day.
