I'm glad Ben is doing better. I hope that was him crowing thats a good sign.
Your going to have empty nest syndrome when the chicks go outside for good. Umru needs a sweater if the temps get to chilly. I had no idea that breed of chicken took so long to feather. I can't spell the name of the kind of chicken she is.I think she is going to be the ugly duckling that turns out to be a swan.
We've had rain most of the day and then I think they have predicted more rain for tomorrow. It seems like it always rains on the fourth of July. They will just reshedule the fireworks if it rains.
Have a nice 4th of July and hug the babies for me.
Oh, I'm already feeling the empty nest with them outside all day!
All of my attempts to get Crash bonded with the chicks have failed, though, so it looks like I have a house duck to fill that void.

Oh, well, at least she's cute.Anyway, Umru is a Brahma, and I've heard that they are slow to feather, though Umru is even behind on that! I'm also becoming more and more sure that she's a cockerel, sigh. That comb is just getting big and red already, wattles coming in, and there are streaks of red across 'her' face now, along with being HUGE next to all of the other chicks, including Donnie. At least with Flury, though she still has pink wattle patches, doesn't have anything else masculine about her... Ah, I don't know, I do get awfully paranoid about this stuff! Either way, he or she isn't going anywhere, so I'm not too worried.

Hope you have a nice 4th, too! Looks like we're going to get rain up here, too, though for now it's just overcast.
A lot of the people in our area did fireworks last night, guess we should have as well!

They're still MY babies! Anyway, I would have posted these this morning, but we had to make a run for chicken feed and pine shavings, so I didn't get home to post them until not too long ago. Had to make sure I posted them, though, as soon as I got back!

She just hasn't been herself lately, and I have no clues to go off of to know how to treat her. She used to be my walking stomach, but now she's just droopy and not eating much. Will keep y'all posted on that. On the plus side, Ben was definitely crowing today, so at least he's doing better.
