Pipd's Peeps!

Thanks for the input, everyone! Yeah, I don't really care either way, just started thinking about those earlobes. 😊
Yes the ears are very pretty on rosecombs!

Photo bomb.

🤣 I named her JellyBean because I thought that was fitting for an Easter Egger.
But, even as a Brahma the name suited her. I miss her sassy attitude. She was one of my first chickens - her and her 3 ISA Brown sisters they started all that is today. ♥️
Those first chickens sure are special (no matter the breed, or thought to be breed 🤣) we were supposed to get 3 blue plymoth rocks and 2 GLW pullets, both Wyandottes ended up being cockerels and the Rocks were actually Black Astraulorps

There's just something about the shape of Rosecomb bantams 😍

Dusty, ugh, I'm still so heartbroken for you about him! :hugs He was such a handsome guy!

Fortunately for me, it wasn't the feed store mislabeling them that had me confused on the breeds of chickens my family started with (actually, I'm pretty sure they were all mixed together and not labeled  ), it was tiny lil know-it-all kiddo Pip with some random chicken book that was only vaguely correct about most of its info, sure that I had gotten things like Old English Pheasant Fowl from our local TSC store.

Needless to say, I've come a long way in my identification skills and my knowledge of breeds that might actually show up in a feed store chick bin. 🤭

We have named the rosecomb cockerel. His name is Reaper (hatched on Halloween) he's also trying out for the kicker of the NFL team the Ravens. Lol.

Oh dear, haha! He does have a look in his eye in those pictures like he might want to test a few boundaries! 🤣

Sorry for the lack of activity on my end, y'all. Not much going on over here with the birds, just me running around like a loon trying to get all sorts of non-chicken-related things done!

I did move Opal and her babies to a ground-level pen with a bit more space for everyone to grow in, maybe I mentioned that already. 🤔 Anyway, here's a couple cute shots of them. :love

Blue broody mama, I've taken to calling Ashy. Not really a gemstone name as I'd set out to find, but nothing really was clicking with me. I'm not sure that Ashy will stick, either, but at least it's a name instead of 'Blue mama'. 😅 Anyway, this is a terrible shot of her because she was too close to her fence, but look at the little cutie peeking out from under her wing! 🥰

Delphine's babies are due in just a few days. Not sure exactly when, but I'm thinking it was Tuesday? Anyway, both are looking good still, so hopefully she'll successfully hatch both. :fl Tonight should be far enough along to peek under Morena and Inara to see how their eggs are doing, though of course too early to definitely call anything clear yet. I'll keep y'all posted!
