Pipping?

The one with the little thread of cord.... Is there still any bulge unabsorbed? You can clip the thready bit that is hanging, just don't cut it close, about an inch away from the body. It will dry up and fall off fairly quickly. If you could confine it to something soft, like a wash cloth or towel, it would be safer. I hate the grates on the incubator. (I cover with rubber shelf liner). No need to add water for the chick to drink yet.

The brown egg...did it pip below the air cell line or in the air cell? 24 hours starts get concerning if it hit the air cell first, and internally pipped. But if it missed the air cell, it can take longer to progress. Watch for the membrane to stay white to wet gray. That's what you want. We don't want it to turn brown or leathery looking. That's when it might need help.

Yes, I put her in a small cup to keep her from dragging the shell and pulling on the bulge. It's not a long stringy intestinal look but it pulsates when she chirps and you can see the vessels. There is also a yellow goop. Maybe a ruptured yolk?

We moved the first three healthy dry chicks into the brooder. There is 1 more drying off and two just starting to pip so hopefully there will more tomorrow.
