Pit Bull "Mix" targeted for triple S

Pit bulls are status symbols in our town. Too many of them were put down within three days after arrival of shelter IF they do not have a microchip.

Too many bad owners, too many bad dogs from wrong breedings, not a good combination. Granted there ARE good breeders out there so if folks would just stop and take their time selecting a pit puppy, with sweet natured parents, be able to understand the breed, pros and cons, then they can make the decision whether the pits would be suitable for thier family. If their insurance agent says NO pits or they wont cover, then make the decision either not getting a pit OR find another insurance agent that would accept pits (usually higher costs involved).

There are good and bad pits but the numbers overwhelm the bad ones........so who would get the finger, the dogs and their bad owners. This is nothing new, it used to be for dobs and GSD and Rotties until the pit came along, the numbers of "bad" dogs rose higher, much higher than the offended breeds that I mentioned above. I agree with Luvroos, something in their brain were wired different and sort of a hair trigger happy to take a bite out of someone's leg. As my father said, having many years of experience, he said the dobs and pits are the hardest to "shut off" once the attack starts. One command isn't going to stop the blood thirst, a ball bat or gun would stop them momentarily or kill them.

I've had some run ins with pits and I do not like them. A neighbor block down has a known biting pit bull.....whenever their dog is lose, they would chase the dog down and yelling at everyone do not help catching the dog, he bites! YIKES! The kids were chasing him and the dog knows them well but it only takes one time for that dog to bite their littlest sister roughly around two years old. If it was me, and seeing that dog again (haven't yet since then!), it would be SHOT if it ever comes into my yard or going after a kid or adult trying to catch the run away dog. Once the kids caught hiim, he would paw them away from him, trying to get a bite to have them let him go of his collar........no dog will ever bite me if I grab their collar.

Sorry, too many pits and not enough dedicated owners........SSS is the way to go. And shoot the irresponsible owners and breeders in for the money.
