Hi-
I was thinking of putting a few fertile Silkie eggs under a broody Rhode Island Red. I only have one other hen- a bared rock that rules the roost. Could there be pecking order issues when the chicks hatch? Thanks
Mary

When the chicks hatch, your RIR will treat them as if they are hers. Chickens do not look in the mirror and then at their chicks, and say,,,,,,,,,, "you don't look like mine"

Your hen should protect them until they go on their own.
WISHING YOU BEST..

Thanks! I am glad they dont discriminate! :D I was more concerned about my bossy bared rock, and wondered is she would accept new chicks of any type. Since I have only two hens,
I didn't know if those might be tricky dynamics to hatch a few new ones into the brood....having only one other bossy hen.....(not the broody "mother").
