Planning to fix a muddy run by turning it into a "sandbox", good idea?

We used paver sand from Lowe's....put down a mess of it and then put ag lime/DE over that, then the wood bark.

We are in the middle of the first storm and WOW drainage is sooooo good

Gonna add more sand and bark tho in a month or so....but yes sand is so worth it!!

Sand around here is about $125 per dump truck load, which is a lot less expensive than buying it by the bag.

I'll never use straw/hay again! I tried that last year and the hens just walked it into the mud, where it started to mold and stink. I ended up having to shovel out the whole chicken run.
