We're so glad to have someone joining us looking to do their homework before introducing a flock. Good on you! You couldn't have picked a better community to be a part of to help you grow in your chicken keeping knowledge. From experience, here is a big tip- protect those biddies from predators! Make sure you have a secure coop, and get yourself a game/trail camera to monitor what potential problem animals are approaching your birds.
