Yep, I know what you mean about the Tater Bugs.....there is just nothing more appealing than to squish soft tater bugs between your fingers.

Yesterday we tilled a 25' x 40' garden at our new home

We are experimenting... trying everything from seed... without starting indoors. I think it can be done, we may just have to wait a while!
Today we got planting- corn, red/green lettuce, mescaline, spinach, cabbage, peas, green beans, red/brown potatoes and spring garlic.
Tomorrow is tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, zucchini, beets, peppers, eggplant, radishes and broccoli.
I have never done potatoes before- it was fun!

Make sure you get a PH test on the soil done - - - before you get too carried away. I lost everything I planted the first year because soil with a ph above 8 had been hauled into my garden area - - - -

Oh yes, we should have done a soil test in our front yard... we were actually lacking a lot and needed to turn in a lot more organic material last year. So far its doing ok... but I still don't think a lot of nutrients are high enough yet.
