plastic bin brooder question

This way we are able to keep making the light higher as they get bigger. It started all the way down with just the safety wire touching the bin.

The lamp will melt the plastic tub if the light is too close. My husband saw it starting to happen but we set a small board under it for support.
When we covered the bin with a screen that helped as well.

We used a screen made out of wood and wire! ours did melt our bin a little when one of my kids bumped the screen. Lucky no chicks were harmed, but we do have a bin that's lid will not be fitting on it. haha We mounted it to a table after that.

I turn the back of a kitchen or dining room chair up to the brooder and clamp the light onto the chair. They stay in the small brooder for about a week then go into the bigger plastic swimming pool brooder that has hardware cloth on top of it. Then I just sit the lamp on the wire.

Ok, sounds like we should not clip the lamp to the side then, cause ours is not as thick/sturdy as some of the ones you guys have posted. We will try a board or a chair, thanks for all the advice! I'll let you know what we end up doing.

Try moving it around after you secure it just so you know how sturdy it is as you do not want any accidents ..
