Plastic Wrapping Runs

IMG_20171107_073404.jpg
For my hoop run....
PVC pipes attached to cattle panels with zip ties, heavy gauge plastic over the top and clips for greenhouse use holding plastic to PVC.
I can raise and lower the sides easily by unclipping the bottom then holding the raised plastic up with the same clips.

Seventy mile an hour winds did pop a few clips off but not enough to compromise it.

I do clear the snow using a sturdy broom. There is a space next to the coop that is 6" wide left open across the whole hoop.

Second winter with the same plastic and holding up well.

LOL! No snow at all. I tried to put that in my post, but it autocorrected to "Abbie." Bwahaha! Don't know how THAT happened...

Without snow you really don't need tarps. Unless you are keeping rain out....... Even then ground saturation would seep in from the sides.

My big run has no tarps. That hoop run is on the north of that coop. Weather is always an issue on the north side. :hmm

That coop houses cochins so feathered feet. Summer sun and winter freezes are an issue for that coop.

Imma try it just the same & see what happens. We have had so many dry months, I'm not sure the ground can get saturated. Thanks, drought...

And it does get pretty windy. Not 70 mph, thank goodness, but still unpleasant. Just want my birds to stay dry and happy and give them full use of the run.
