More inside play time today since it's still kind of gross outside. They had their kale, and decided it is as much fun to fling it around the room as it is to eat it.

They're getting more and more comfortable with me, and they're happy to hang out on my leg. This results in me needing to change jeans, but they're worth it, lol.

I can't believe they're 3 weeks old. I feel like it's gone so fast! There are no questions here, I just wanted to share their happy day.

They are so stinking cute! :barnie
The time seriously flies. Today marks 20 weeks for us, and sometimes it feels like they just got here! Glad you're enjoying them. The honeymoon chick phase is over in a flash, but goofy pullets are also a blast.

Thank you! 20 weeks, wow! I feel like I know how it's so easy to fall victim to chicken math. These cuties bring me so much joy and so many laughs. I'm looking forward to their next goofy phases, but much like I miss hearing my kids learn to talk and watching them learn to walk, I feel like I'll miss their hilarious chick antics. Then I'll want more. :D

Today, my Sebright (by far the most flighty) flew from the floor to the foot board of the guest bed. I literally cheered for her, then the other 3 followed suit, except they chose me as their landing point. I was sitting on the floor, propped against the foot board, so close enough, I guess. :)

I don't. And even if it's there, I would never assume a rosy comb = roo. Almost rehomed one of my pullets this year thinking she was a dude! I'd be more wary of comb and wattle size, but even then, they can throw you for a loop.
I thought I might be seeing things, that's why I asked, lol. The comb is still pretty small, especially compared to the d'Uccle. But even at the same age, they aren't the same breed, so the comparison doesn't mean much I'm sure.

My d'Uccle had basically zero comb until the last couple weeks. Now she's too cool for school (and mom) with her little saw blade. Also, almost all my cochins were rosy by the 4 week mark. Started freaking out that I had a brooder full of dudes! 😅

That's exactly what I don't want, lol! I feel fairly confident that my d'Uccle is a cockerel. And he and the cochin like to play the chest bumping game where they kind of puff their wings out and run at each other. That's the extent of it. But someone on here told me both sexes will do that, especially as chicks.

While I don't have any regulations where I live, I don't want to end up with a dramatic coop because of too many males. But I know me, I won't be able to rehome these because they're my first chicks. I'd get more straight run bantams in the spring to try to balance things out, only to get more cockerels. :gig
