Playhouse for silkies ? What ya think ? Input ?

I have two wooden playhouses from Lowes for my chickens.
Silkies in one, Banties in the other.

They love it.

I'm still new to the chicken family.

WE are building the rest of our coop this weekend.
I would say, to save time on building... it's a cute/fast way of getting a small coop done!

As long as spending the extra doesn't bother you!

We have the same one! its great for silkies! but to be honest..you can find free dog houses on craigslist....and paint them and make them look just as cute.

Looks good... before you buy contact local "premade" buildings companies in your area (the kind of storage shed companies)

and see if there are "damaged" or broken ones that are scrap and could be delivered and then repaired cheap! a damaged on can be had for $50 bucks! or look at "free ware" or "craigs list" too. But this is a cute coop too.

I live in town so my coop needs to look nice. I will not try to create nice !
It's free shipping so I will order and they say if I don't like the materials I can return. I don't think I want to go the dog house route as they are just as expensive, smaller and I can't go in them.

Any one have anymore suggestions please let me know !

My playhouse was on clearance at Lowe's for $79.00
Always ask if there are any clearance playhouses or floor models that might have been damaged.

Wish I had it and the silkies to go in it!

Am working on the 2nd and the first is never ever going to happen, hubby already thinks I'm crazy making clothes (chicken saddles) for them and doesn't want the neighbors to see that I've went off the reservation!

I am building little mobiles with yards attached for my brahmas. I say if you can swing the price it would be really nice. Ooops poet and didn't know it.

Oh, I LOVE the idea! I'm a little jealous of it because we just finished the one we made from a dog house....that one is bigger than ours.

BUT....I'm having a hard enough time keeping my preschooler out of the coop as a dog house....if it were an actual playhouse, she'd probably be living with the chickens, so it's probably a good thing we have what we have.

We're going to elevate ours and have a small yard underneath for when we can't let them free range. It's also small/light enough for two people to move it, so we won't get bare spots in the yard.

We aren't all that handy, and also live in town so we need something that looks nice and won't annoy the neighbors. Great solution! Ours only took a morning to put together and modify.
