So got home on friday and took everything out of the box.

Saturday I primed all the pieces individually:

And Sunday I put on the first coat of red on the siding and assembled the body:

In theory, every wood surface that can be reached has at least one layer of primer and one layer of paint on it.

Next weekend will be to make a floor using the huge pallet that came with the coop, and painting the second coat of red over the building.

Once that is done and dry, hopefully by Sunday, I'll mask off the red and paint all the things in white, white! Good thing they make a latex paint usable down to 35F. Else nothing would get done around here.

Then the following weekend, put the play house on the floor, attach it, and put the roof on!

Then even after that, I'll free up one of the breeder tractors and be all ready for the next batch of chicks!

Love, love, love the red and white!!

And yes, I am totally jealous. My poor playhouse has been sitting in my backyard, securely wrapped up in three tarps, for over a month. It's so depressing! I stare at it several times a day. I think I'm gonna go nuts pretty soon!

I will....I WILL...SOMEDAY POST PICTURES OF MY FINISHED COOP. I WILL, DANGIT!!!! WINTER CAN'T LAST FOREVER!!!!!!!

Thanks! Can't look that good yet... you can still see primer though the red and there's no roof! :p

I lucked out this weekend, as the night time low was just a hair above freezing and I was able to paint everything at least 4 hours before it reached the critical temp of 35. I am hoping that next weekend is the same so I can paint again. Now I can say my car matches one of the chicken coops.

It's gong to stand out like a terrible sore thumb... and all that white will turn green with moss in no time. At least I'll enjoy one 2 month long summer with it being the proper colors!

I saw tht same color car, won't matter if you make a mess painting, lol! You musta forgot that girls rule...give that SO of yours a paintbrush and get that cute coop finished, loL!!! Okie's gonna have new chicks anyday waitin for a new home, haha!!

It looks great! I love the red & white combo. I've been so tempted to buy one. I thought it would be the perfect size for the bantams my daughter wants. Thanks for sharing the pics. Can't wait to see the finished product. Keep the pics coming.

I wish my SO was up here to paint with me! Hes about 300 miles away. Oh well.

I'll get more pics this upcomming weekend if the weather cooperates and I can paint/do stuff!

Can't splatter the poor car though! Else I'd have to clay bar the thing. Poor car is all dirty due to the weather. If it's too cold to paint or it's raining, I'll be washing the car instead :p. I can wax it with the low T wax!
