Playhouse progress, the one from lowes

I would at most put 4 maybe 5 standards in there if and only if you can free range them or put it in a run where they can get out year round. Else it would be very cramped. I plan on housing my bachelors in there, which are two silkie roos at this time. This way I can free up a breeder pen which has a hutch and a run attached.

It's really cute but is more of a side coop project than a main living establishment for a large flock. It would work well as a side room if you wanted to get it though!

Gotta look into the Bellamy play house! We have that one at our lowes! It was still 399 though! If I can get that one of 100 that would be great. Then I don't have to spend 80 on shipping! Had this one shipped from Champaign IL for a grand total of 180 which is less than half of the Bellamy one locally. This project here is getting expensive... still have to make a floor, get windows, weather stripping, interior and a few other odds and ends. Cost of the "extras" is surpassing the cost of the building itself! By far the most expensive and tiniest least functional chicken coop I have! But sure is the cutest.

Ditto, Silkie!! I think I keep adding stuff because it's so cute! I just picked up a very cute triple cubby to serve as nest boxes. White, of course, so it matches the interior that I plan to paint white. And did I mention? I'm adding on, lol! OMG, what have I gotten myself into, and it's not even spring yet!?

Update!

Here it is on the pallet floor sitting on leveled bricks that are sure to heave next winter. It has it's roof on, the primed parts painted white and windows put in.

Shutters are still not on and it needs another coat of white paint on the roof to cover the screws I used to put it together. I have silicone sealant between the roof boards and still have to seal the windows because I ran out. It is assembled with the ability to later dismantle, place onto the floor and relocate if necessary.

So far it has 1 gallon primer on it, 1 gallon red paint, 1 quart white, 1 quart floor sealant red.

Oh...almost forgot... I need to attach door handles, the lock, attach it to the floor it, and add interior stuff like roosts and nests.

So far break down is about...

100 for the coop

80 for the shipping

80 for paint + acessories

70 for other tools of my very own now that have come mighty handy

35 for screws, floor, plexi glass and lock

365 so far... boy spontaneous purchases really bite hard!

I would have to say that besides my car... this is the most expensive project that I have undertaken that has almost no usefulness to it. It is more for me than the birds. LOL Since the birds have more functional living establishments that cost under 100 bucks including paint....

This by far is the most happy making though! And that's the important part. I call it my graduation present to myself.

That is adorable Silkie. You did a great job on that. You should be proud of yourself and your chickens will be happy there. Oh, when is graduation. A BIG CONGRATS on that.
