Please assist me in sexing these! Update pictures (1 week later)

Black is a pullet the partridge could be a pullet too. She's coming in with the markings where roosters are mostly black and red, no intricate penciling markings. So I think its highly likely you have two pullets.

I have a lot of cochin chicks the same age as yours and I can see some very obvious roos in mine. I have some birchens and can see the green sheen on them, as well as extended markings on them compared to the pullets. I wound up with a whole heep of extra blue roos.

Wow, I hope you are correct. What is the best way to tell at this age? Do you focus on markings, tail feathers, crop shape, crop color or is it all of the above? I am VERY new to this, I never knew chickens were so complicated!!!!

The crop (shape or color) has nothing to do with it. Mainly comb and wattles. Big comb or wattles isn't a good sign, but the main thing is how red they are.

By 8 weeks if the pencilling stays on the partridge then for sure it is a girl. If the feathers start to change into greens and reds then it would be a cockeral. They are both very cute,.

I'm still going with pullets for each. I think if the partridge were a cockerel, it would have begun developing waddles by now. The comb is pink, but not very dark. Also, the feathers should be changing to black, brown, red by now I would think.

I am surprised you could see the wattle in those pictures. I went back and looked at the partridge very carefully, and yes, the wattle is just now showing up, and is pinkish red.

Does that guarantee that its a roo?

Well, I have been looking at as many pictures as I could find on the internet. I would say the color of the comb and wattle on this partridge would indicate a higher probability that its a rooster. That being said, the feather coloring, especially the pencil markings still indicates pullet.

At this point, I am guessing there is probably a 75% chance that the partridge is a cockeral.

That sound accurate?
