She'd made it to where he was and nuzzled him lightly, pressing his tearstained face to her chest in an embrace. "It's all right, sweetheart," she cooed warmly to him, "You're safe now." Her head shot up and she looked off into the woods, looking for any sign of parents or siblings. None, so far. She would briefly wait where woods blended to field, in wait for the mother, sadly, may never come. She continued to caress him gently in comfort. "Shhh..."

"Ariel, where are you...." He called, his voice cracking as he did so. He fell over his own feet, er, hooves, and landed hard on the ground face first.

Esther used all he might and strength to walk slowly towards a tree, wincing with every step. She finally gave up and fell limp next to the willow, breathing rapidly.
Chance saw his Dad fall and ran over to him. "Dad! You are all right!" he cried, nuzzling him frantically as he helped him along.
