Please ducklings life could be lost. Duckling cemented in egg

I have been puttin water on a shrink wrapped egg. It seemed to be working. But i notice that the membrane was getting really sticky. Not its practicly cementin the duckling pleas i need your advice.

10 days ago I had a chick like that. The egg cracked and I watched it for few hours. When I saw it shrink wrapping I peeled it out. It will either suffocate in there or will die anyway if you peel it out and it's not ready. I guess to me it was worth the risk. I peeled it out and the baby is growing and doing great now.

I've heard some kind of oil could help to keep it lubricated, as it doesn't evaporate as quickly as water. Like olive, vegetable, or canola. Certainly not 3-in-1! Good luck...
