Easter Eggers can be sexed by color.

Gee, I never knew that. That's interesting, especially since "Easter Egger" is not an official breed, and can be pretty much any crossbreed that carries the blue egg laying gene. So you're saying that Easter Eggers have sex linked colors?

I guess I should reword that a wee bit... Easter Eggers can be sexed by color and by color pattern.

Here's a great description by Illia (post #7): https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=463817

I have a black and white pullet too, but her color pattern is VERY different from my black and white rooster (who's a classic EE color, looking a lot like "Lucille"). I'll try to get some pics of several of my pullets and roosters and post them.

(I raised 37 straight run EEs this spring and they're now almost 4 months old)

When I first stumbled on the sexing EEs by color thing, Cackle Hatchery's pics of OEGs really helped me out too. Same concept. Coupled with Illia's description, I was able to sex all of mine by the time they were 8 weeks old.

Are you noticing a pattern?

I got them from TSC. Three from the production red pullet bin and three from the americauna pullet bin. I knew I'd have a few roos, the girl working knew NOTHING about chickens!!

I'll post better pictures tomorrow that show their combs.

Thanks SO VERY MUCH for helping me!!! I love these sweet birds and they are totally spoiled rotten!!!

So are they EE or Americauna? Just to clear? IF they are Americauna then the color pattern thing shouldn't define what they are right? Not trying to be smart, just curious and trying to learn and make sense of it.

They are EEs, but she posted that they came out of the Ameraucana bin because thats what hatcherys call them.
