It's when a hen can't pass an egg, and the egg production system gets backed up. Egg yolks can start rotting and cause a hen to go into septic shock. It's usually accompanied by a specific penguin-like walk. Other symptoms include lethargy, panting, and a general look of discomfort. What does egg bound mean?
I'm pretty sure Betty is broody and not egg bound. Broody hens barely eat or drink, only getting up once a day or so to eat, drink, and poo before going right back to sitting.oh my. That may be what has happened to betty. Chickalatta is up an active like her usual self. eating and drinking normally.
but Betty has barely moved in the last 24 hours. I moved a water bowl next to her so she could drink while in the box and she did a little. but i am not sure if she has eaten much
i honestly am not sure. they have free range and i havent seen her up muchAre her droppings normal?
