What's the temperature where you are???

Yesterday was perfect! Once the snow stopped - big wet flakes perfect for snowmen and snowballs- we had a good 8 inches. Big Dog was in his glory, making snow angels and tossing snowballs up with his nose ... and I was stuck inside. Doesn't it figure, we finally get the snow I've been hoping for all winter and I'm too sick to enjoy it properly. I quit! Bring on the Spring!

No, sorry, I'm agreeing with you! Here people will panic buy and clear out the shelves in the big supermarkets in the main town (who get almost all of their stock delivered from down south, by boat - unless the boats are all cancelled because it's too windy) when the smaller local shops are much less affected because they sell locally produced & bottled milk, and locally baked bread.
Years ago, I was in line at a local supermarket, joking with the cashier about the milk/bread/toilet paper panic. We laughed over my theory that Marylanders throw all three items into their crab pot (everyone here has one) adds half of an industrial sized can of Old Bay (most of us have that, too) and stir it up with a wooden crab mallet before spreading it on the driveway.
We were in the middle of a good chuckle when I felt a gentle hand on my arm and heard a soft southern drawl ask pleadingly, "Oh, Honey, does it work?"
That poor soul was up from Atlanta, Georgia for the birth of her first grandchild and was absolutely frozen in fear over the of the foot of snow predicted for that night. I can still hear her sigh as we explained the joke to her, and hear her soft, "Well, I'm just terrified, terrified (teh-ruh-fyed) by all that snow."
I felt so badly I hugged her right there in the checkout line! I've always wondered if that was a story told about that baby's birth ever since. It wouldn't surprise me, that was a humdinger of a storm!

I have three pilgrim geese!! and also I had these three chocolate Orpington hens up until recently I rehomed them ,, with all that snow we had last month and ice, and no covered run for them just a small coop, it was too much extra for me and I wanted them to have a better life. Someone less than a mile away with a beautiful big farm has them now. Perhaps in the future if I build a big covered run, I will get chickens again. But this time I will get tiny ones instead of giant ones lol. The chocolate orps have extra super fluffy butts that need to be cleaned up and to me that was much messier than any duck. Ducks bathe themselves in water, so they are always clean, but chickens roll around in dirt. lol Ducks rarely have problems with parasites, but chickens have to be given dewormers and parasite treatments and seems like they get crop problems and have to stay out of the cold rain and I think their poops are much stinker than duck poop. So for me, Ducks rule. Chickens are beautiful and most of them are very sweet, but I think they’re more work than Ducks . And geese , they are supreme! they’re royalty actually ,,at least they sure act like it. lol King Charles and Queen Trudy and their daughter Princess Hazel are my bestest buddies ❤️
When you're ready, Jen, let me know. I have Nankin bantams - still on the Threatened List. I'd love to share them with someone local who would help conserve the breed!

30F with a high of 37 predicted. Haven't measured yet, but it looks like a foot of snow out there, and it's still snowing. A possible 3" of snow on Wednesday and 4-8" on Friday predicted. :rant
Have you seen the reports from the beaches, Sour? EIGHTEEN INCHES on the Rehoboth boardwalk! I tried to get someone to drive down with me yesterday, but both DD and DM chickened out. They're both regretting that decision, now!

We'll sit tight and wait it out, like sane people do.
We can pass the time watching (and laughing at) the fools who insist on trying to have "business as usual" when we have stay-at-home weather. I want to shake them all and tell them, "Stay off the roads, people, so the emergency crews can do their jobs!"
My brother is the Fire Chief for a large, local town and one of only two people licensed to drive ALL of the equipment. He is SO ready for this mess to end!
