I have a baby duck about 7 weeks old I think. He was following me and ran between my legs and I accidentally kicked him my heart absolutely shattered when I I saw his head. He has a large gash on the top of his head. Not bleeding bad but he looks scalped. Idk what to do please help me. I dont want him to hurt. I'm so broken hearted rn. The gash is far apart. From the top of his eye to eye. I put betasept on it with a ttip. Other than that idk what to do. Please help.

I would apply either Neosporin or vetericyn to the wound, keep the baby warm and well hydrated. If you have other duckling's separate him from the others using a clear divider in the brooder, You won't want other duckling pecking at the wound, a few drops of poultry vitamins may help too. Keep us updated ! :fl

I had a similar wound on a quail. I washed it as best I could, slathered neosporin on it, pushed the skin back into place, and cleaned and reapplied daily. It didn't take very long and it did heal up fine! My bird had to be kept completely separate from the other quail for its safety until it was healed up. If you have another tub, I would suggest using it.

Idk how I'd push it back it wont stay put..

I understand how bad you feel, but it looks worse than it really is. I doubt the duck is in much pain. Probably more shocked than hurt. I agree with the others on treatment, mainly just want to avoid infection. I’d bet within a week, you won’t even be able to see it. They heal so quickly, it seems unreal.
Maybe limit swimming if the water looks anything like my ducks’ water.

good luck, keep us posted please.
