Haha yes. So clean the wound with water since I don't have anything else to use? Do I just damp a towel and wipe down the wound? I will for sure spoil her. After this I'd like to see if my neighbours will give her to me.My goodness, so much about oregano oil. I really think that she will do well, just with cleaning the wound, applying plain neosporin ointment twice a day, and by offering her good food and plenty of water to drink. Azygous had plenty of good info early in this thread on cleaning the wound and caring for her. Chickens will eagerly take wet chicken feed, chopped egg or rinsed tuna for extra protein. Hold a small measuring spoon to ner beak to get her to drink often, and keep spoiling her.
Alright will do.I would pour water over it if possible. You don't want to rub over it. If you can use a turkey baster or the hose sprayer to the kithen sink those would work. If not a cup, and pour.
Thanks, Kyndra.I didn't read the hole thing so I don't know what happen
Flush the wound daily with salene, Use honey or neoporine and pack it onto the wound.
I put a few drops of orengino oil in a jug of water and syringe it into her mouth, it helps boost strength.
I think she'll be fine, I've seen worse, On others and my own girl.
Thanks, Kyndra.![]()
Sorry for your loss. I lost my halfblind polish through a wire fence last year when 2 hawks ganged up on her. I still feel that my chickens deserve to be able to free range daily, since they enjoy it so much.So glad you were able to get her from your neighbor - I hope they give her to you. You certainly deserve her
I lost my favorite bantam, Nighthorse, to a hawk today. In a covered run. Got her right through the wire. Silly little friendly thing always runs up to say hello. Very sad day so I am glad to see a story with a happy ending.
I agree completely. I don't think I could take that from them. My littles are only about eight weeks so they are in the covered run and the grown ups run about as they please. The pic attached is little Nighthorse when she was 4 weeks old. She loved sitting on my arm.Sorry for your loss.
