Please help!!!!! Chicken attacked by husky.

Pics
@azygous had it right on the first few posts!

Where is that wound located on her body?
I would just continue to keep it clean, apply the neosporin like you have been doing. It won't hurt to give a few injections of penicillin if you have it.

See that she is eating and drinking. Don't change up her diet too much - if she will eat her normal feed that would be great! A little treat of egg for protein is o.k.

I think she will be fine as long as nothing gets infected. In the photo, I don't see a bird in extreme pain at this time. Take a deep breath, you're doing good:hugs

It's located near the middle of her back. I can see about that. Sounds like I need a day trip to get some medicine for my chickens! Since I am in Canada, not everything down there is up here, sadly. :-/

I just found her wandering around the house which is good because she had enough strength to hop out of the basket.

Something I forgot to mention is that my sister saw my neighbour go down to lock up their chickens with his dog on Saturday or Sunday (said my sister) and a little while after she saw him petting Sparx so I think that was the day she got attacked. Thank you very much. It hurts me to see an animal in pain so much, especially a chicken.

If she’s eating you could drizzle the oregano oil on her food. I wouldn't put it on the wound.
Clean it real good tonight and either neosporin or honey and leave her be.
You don’t want to stress her. (She looked good in the pictures so I don’t think she is.) I’d check on her a few times a day but only check the wound itself once maybe twice. Look at it and reapply ointment as needed. A lot of chicken care is wait and see.

Is there a certain amount of drops I should put on?

I'll do that. You all are helping me so much. :) it really means a lot.

Wow. 8 pages of information within 8 hours of posting!
I hope everything is going good so far.

I hope you've had luck finding a good antibiotic. I hear they are next to impossible to find now.
Without the antibiotic- someone may have already told you, she will get blood poisoning which causes a heart attack or heart failure.... it ends in convulsions and it's not pretty. It's something about dog saliva... just like cat scratches cause cat scratch fever, the dog bite will poison her blood.

I wouldn't put oregano on the wound either. It burns almost intolerably when applied to scratched or broken skin, let alone healthy skin. I know... I self applied to a cyst and eczema patch once. Please don't do that to her... I was sucking air through my teeth for twenty minutes straight and nothing would relieve that burning.

I hope so too. Thank you.

Do you have any recommendations? Even some natural remedies?

I put in on her food and she's eating quite happily. Ugh that's no fun. :-/
