Great job cutting it. I could not have handled that! Make sure you change the wrap once a day to put fresh antibacterial cream on like neosporn and rinse the foot off before re-wrapping. But her foot has to be completely dry. I would keep her inside tonight to stop infection in an open wound. Hope she feels better soon.

It looks good. Do you have any betadine solution you can put on it? You can get it at most drug or grocery stores. I would wrsp it with gauze and vet wrap or tape. Casportpony may have other suggestions.

ok guys... i did it. we ended up canceling the trip so i cut it off. and guess what? there was no blood at all. lorretta didn’t even squawk! i smeared aquafor on it and wrapped it. she walks so much more normal. thank you all for your post! i don’t know what i would do without all of you! here’s a picture right after the cut. the foaming is from hydrogen peroxide.

i will daily post pictures of it so you can all see the recovery. does it look pretty normal? (other than the part where i cut off her toe) thanks again!!

thanks! i just covered her up with a towel, put hydrogen peroxide onto her foot, alcoholed the cutter, and just snipped then applied pressure for a min but then we realized there wasn’t any blood. i also trimmed up her nails a little bit. give me an hour or so and i will post more pics.

yeah it was pretty hard to Get the courage to do it but actually it wasn’t as bad as I thought
