Please help!!! Chicks skull is showing!

I had a tenweek old that got jumped on by one of my big chickens two days ago, and has a remarkably similar injury, is it possible one of the older chicks pounced on your little?

I have a mom in there that was pecking some of the chicks and she got the worse end of the deal. The 1 week old chicks have been doing good with the younger chicks.

She died last night. I gave her water and food and she drank water and was walking around and peeping. I think she drank to much water and drowned her self when she went to sleep.

This is a 3 day old bantam crosses breed. I went outside to find this chick on her back. Her skull is showing what should I do, how do I fix this?View attachment 2311355

I used bag a balm bought at tractor supply. My frizzle hens got attacked to the skull too. Kept that on her with a het lamp. She was less than a year old tho

Sorry to hear. sometimes it’s just too much trauma. But you gave her a chance, all you can do.

The skin and meat that was showing on her head when I found her dead it was gray and slimy. It was kind of like that when she was steal alive. I did clean her head and put neasporn on. Is it ok that the skin was gray?

It was probably necrotic (dying/dead) tissue; if the blood supply is interrupted the skin/tissue that’s “devitalized” dies and goes gross like that.
I don’t think there is anything more you could have done to save that one. All you can do is make sure the rest are safe.

Poor baby! You did a great job taking care of her and did everything possible. We had 17 chicks brooding under a heat lamp inside away from the hens. I woke up one morning to the four Polish almost pecked to death by the other chicks. It happened so fast and they hadn't been picked on up to that point. Hope the rest of your chicks are safe.
