Please help. Did my embryo die?

That membrane is literally stuck to his face. I'm just moistung it with a paper towel. Any other ideas of how to get it off?

Keep on what you are doing. There is no easy way. But good news is that he looks ready to come out, so keep peeling back shell and outer membrane a bit at a time and use the warm, moist towel to loosen the membrane so he can move.

[/IMG]Well all was going well, I was just chipping bit by bit all while he was pushing and peeping. Very little blood I though for sure he was ready, but the front half is gone plop he goes and there's still yolk on his belly... :( I have him in a bowl with a towel in it with a moist paper towel over him with a moist wash cloth on that under a heat lamp. I don't know if he's gonna make it. It had to be done though, there's no way he could have gotten out on his own. All I can do is wait and hope he can absorb all the rest of the yolk.

Sorry, I was busy...

He should absorb it as long as he doesn't puncture it he'll be ok... I would actually lay him back in the bator, but dry it out first... the extra moisture will actually slow down the absorption now so if it's drier it will be easier for him... and keep him warmer too...

I can't see it well enough to tell how big it is, but I'd guess about a day... if you have any vaseline or antibiotic ointment w/out pain reliever you canspread a little gently over the yolk sac so it doesn't stick to anything and will help make his nails slide off it instead of poking it to be safe...

Well he's in the incubator now fast asleep and still breathing. I put some Vaseline on his yolk sac it feels like skin and not as fragile as I was fearing it would be. But he tried to get up and walk a minute ago! Hoping he will be okay, and he seems healthy for all that he has been through. we will have to see.

He'll probably sleep a lot til it absorbs, just as long as he keeps breathing he should be just fine...

I do prefer to have them in a cup or small bowl in the bator when they're absorbing, but your bator is so small I dunno if a cup would fit???

Haha no there's no room for a cup. Thank y'all so so much for al of your help. Just one more thing. What can I do next time to prevent this from happening a second time? My guess was that the humidity was too high so the air sac was too small so he had to make an external pup a little too early to get more fresh air. What do y'all think?
