Please help! Do I need to put coconut oil on pip?

Pics
I just happened to take some pics of the Serama a day or two ago! He is far more cuddly than he's been. I was so afraid of him escaping my hands before that I didn't take both hands off of him while holding him. He is calming down and becoming much easier to love on. View attachment 2279993

My daughter says he has a "cow lick" on the side of his comb. I'm not sure if maybe the quail drinker he is using is doing that or what. The drinker seems to fit him well still but I plan on getting him a regular drinker today. He also has one small brown dot off to the side of the back of his head. He looks like a spoiled rotten little boy to me. He is such a cutie and he knows it! Thank you for helping me save him!
Awww, he's so cute.
Haha, yes, probably from the drinker. I had that happen to one of my bigger quail too. The lip on the font just starts to rub a little. The brown dot is adorable. My hen's black chick has a brown dot on his head too.

Oh my goodness! @MGG they're adorable! What are they? That is so funny about the brown dot. It must be somewhat common. Do you think it's just leakage?

Since you've hatched and identified CCL chick's, do you mind sharing your thoughts about my chicks @MGG I'm thinking I have 2 cockerels, but the darker one does have smaller features. Of course I'm hopeful for at least one pullet (the last CCL egg still looks alive and well, so prayers it hatches and is strong and healthy are so appreciated) but I know there's a fairly high chance of all cockerels. There is no spot on the head but I worry the pattern isn't as crisp as it should be, to be identified as a pullet. I'll get a better close up picture of the darker CCL chick later today. Hopefully it's identifiable with this picture but I keep going back and forth. I know the light one is a cockerel. The little cutie that's beside the Spitz is the one in question

The markings down the back aren't as sharp as I thought they should be. These are my first CCL chicks though. If I had some of both sexes, I feel like it'd be more obvious. I need some experienced help. Also, we LOVE these chicks! My daughter and I both are already wanting more CCL chicks and more Spitz as well. I am on the hunt for more hatching eggs :)

I had to share a picture that I just took. The Spitz chick is off to show us that it has such an adorable personality! It's decided that it's most comfy in the FOOD DISH, hahaha! This isn't the first time I've found it like this. He definitely prefers to nap there. I may be wrong but I believe he just tried to crow. Seems like the beginning of some fun times and hilarious antics from an adorable little guy (?) :)

Thanks! The black one is a Buff Brahma Bantam (roo) X Black australorp (mom). He's still all black and definitely male. The other tan chick has the same father, but mother is a Partridge cochin. She's a girl.
Probably. It has seems to disappear as the feathers start coming in.

Actually, I've never hatched nor owned any CCLs, but those and Spitzes are my two top wanted breeds. I'm somewhat jealous, lol. Although, from all of my CCL research over time, I'm almost 100% sure you have 1 male and 1 female. Lucky!!!
I'd say the one in question is at least 99% female. The other one is definitely male. The spitz is so black! I thought they were usually cream colored? Or is this a Golden? Adorable either way though. I can't believe you got a CCL pair, lol. Super envious :drool

I'm almost 100% positive it's a female. The eyeliner and dark markings are too much to be male. She's SO adorable. More pics when they fluff up better please. :love
Anything from Mally's yet? Or the other CCL?

I found this, the third one in from the left looks quite similar to yours. Almost positive it's a she. I know the back stripe is not as thick, and kinda squiggly, but I think it will even out in a few days when she's more fluffed up. So sweet.

Dawwww. I have a duckling that insists on sleeping in the food dish too!
He probably was (was it like a yawning motion?) just stretching. A lot of my newly hatched chicks stretch their necks out to yawn. No clue why. It sure is cute though. I love them. The CCL at the top looks SO female to me.
