I candled them all. I looked up the distribution center that my packages go to before heading to my local post office and they have A LOT of complaints filed against them. I'm wondering if that could be some of the problem? Of course I know it's not the only thing to blame as it's many factors, but eliminating as many problems as possible, is a goal.

Only 1 spitz developing but I'll take that over none at all. I've been looking for more Spitz eggs and hope to find some good ones soon. I have Seramas in the Brinsea. I know they are notorious for being difficult to hatch but this breeder is in NC, so I was hoping that'd make a difference. I also have Brabanter's (6 Cream & 6 Gold) coming in later this week. I am supposed to pick up more silkie eggs from a local breeder later this week too. All of these are from pre-orders placed weeks back. I'm glad that they're coming though. It's making me keep going and learning and deep down, it's what I want to do, but my heart doesn't want to as much

I don't know, the PO could be the problem. How far is the distribution center from you? Hopefully you have a good hatch rate on the Brabanters, they're so cool. It's always best to find the closest possible ones, so your seramas will probably do pretty good.

I received more Spitz eggs today from the next state over from me (I'm in NC, eggs came from SC). One of the eggs looks like the yolk is completely broken and the entire contents are scrambled. Have you ever had this happen? Out of the 7 eggs, that one looks horrible but there are 2 other completely rolling air cells, and the others are saddled. Do you recommend that I let these settle for 12 hours and then place in the incubator?

The Brabanter Eggs are here too. I am about to open them and check to see how they fared during shipping

Hi! Good to hear from you. I'm glad your spitz is still good! Just up humidity to 65% or so. Are you leaving it in the NR?
With the new spitz eggs, I'd probably just toss the scrambled one. I've never had any of those, but I've heard they never hatch. I guess you can put it in just to try, but don't expect it to make it. With the two that are rolling, I wouldn't put those in the turner. I came across a post that might be helpful to you. Like Snapdragon did make a thing so they can ride on top of the turner maybe. Or if you turn the turner off and hand turn, you could keep the detached ones upright in the tp tubes.

I would rest them for 8 hours or so. Or overnight. Maybe just set them in the morning. Let me know how the brabanters look! Fingers crossed.

It was one of the new Spitz eggs (set in incubator this past Thursday). I did candle it and didn't find any cracks but continued to inspect it. After a short time, I was able to actually see it seeping or just coming out. Remember the new Spitz egg that I told you looked "scrambled"? It was in this batch. Two of the eggs have now been removed due to smelling funky. I checked them after noticing the seeping egg. I plan on letting the seller know that I received old eggs as these haven't even been set for very long. Do I need to disinfect the other eggs from the incubator? It's not time to candle them yet, I don't think I would even be able to see development this early. Other than pulling all eggs and disinfecting, what would you do? There are A LOT of other eggs in there. This stinks, literally! It could be worse, I suppose. At least the egg didn't bust. The Incuview is simple to clean, thankfully. I'm not going to get too upset as I'm sure mistakes are made. Heck, I make them throughout the day, everyday! I am very frustrated, but like I said, it could be worse. Hopefully all of these eggs aren't ruined.

My only Spitz egg that made it to lock down is on Day 19. I candled today and it's still moving around in there, so I'm praying it hatches healthy and strong. I wish I'd realized before that I get them on June 30th.That means I don't even have to count

Try candling. I've seen stuff as early as day 2. I think you'll be surprised if there are any fertiles. I think you definitely got sent old eggs. How big are the air cells? Sometimes that's an indicator of age. I would candle to check of course, and only pull a couple of the definitely bad ones. I would really not pull any until a week at tge earliest, but if it smells really bad and is oozing you'd better pull it. Just take out all of the eggs, clean the bator really well, and put them back. Don't wash the eggs. Is the day 19 spitz in with these? Some people just don't keep track of the age of the eggs well. Does it say in the product info on EBay that the eggs will be fresh? If so, definitely contact the seller. What all other eggs so you have in this batch? Any far along ones? I just had a batch of ducks hatch a month or so back that were set on May 31st. It's nice not having to count, all you have to do is know the date. Lol.
