Runner duck eggs started internally pipping yesterday...2 days early. They are in lockdown. Has been 18 hours, no external pips.
Have found 2 very different guidance info. Do I intervene this afternoon and try to put in safety holes?Or, do I wait until tomorrow or next day?
I have never incubated before. All 7 of the little guys internally pipped into the air sac. The eggs were laid by my little faun runner Wanda. I don't want to intervene unless I have to but, don't want them to suffocate.

At around 24 hours most people will make a very small safety hole, but it is true that ducklings can take a long time to hatch, they rest a lot between stages while they are absorbing.

Yes, they can run out of oxygen if they are unable to pip the shell, the assisted hatching article states you can make a safety hole 18-24 hours after the internal pip if there is no extermal pip. But by doing this, you must expect a slower hatch.
Do you know how to make a safety hole?

The number of hours varies, mostly depending on how big the air cell is. The smaller the air cell, the quicker it will run out of air, right?
So did the air cells get big during incubating or did they stay small?
24 hours is an general guideline that it should pip the shell within 24 hours after internal pip, but it can fluctuate a few hours either way.

Big air cells, 5 of 7 eggs lost the 13% weight. 1 egg only lost 9% and 1 egg lost 10%. Those two eggs internally pipped late. The one egg that only lost 9% has a good size air sac as well but, the exterior of the egg shell has been darkening (see photo). Is this bruising or something else? Also, one egg pipped about an hour ago, so filled side B of Nuture Right 360 with water to up the humidity.

It almost looks like the interior of egg is staining. Normal???
