Please Help!! Eggs on day 30!!!

Ok we've taken off a bit of the shell from the first egg, only in the air cell. We stopped when we saw a tiny spot of blood on the membrane, I think we uncovered it rather than caused it (I hope). Anyway he seems to have perked up a bit for now.

Don't know what to do about the other egg. We cleared a tiny hole in the membrane hours ago, he poked his beak out a couple of times when we made the hole but nothing since. The membrane looks brown. Should we try to open the shell up a bit more? I don't even know if he's still alive in there

Thank you we'll leave him alone for now & give him at least 8 hours. Fingers crossed he's just resting.

We're getting little chirps from the first duckling, we can see the whole of his beak even his little nostrils! We'll let him rest for a few hours too, we'll keep a close wat checkout overy him though.

Thank you for being there for us. I'll post again when there's any news. Thank you

A brown membrane is a dry and stiff one if its brown you can probably continue to open it just not too much at a time as for the other its wise to let him at the job for a bit :p it sounds like at least one of them is getting by as for the other if he didnt make it it wasnt your fault he likely had a internal deformity or just wasnt meant to be :/

Thanks for staying with us :) we're calling the duckling who's partially zipped 'Zippy' for now and the duckling who pipped upside down 'Pip' Not the names they'll be keeping!

Zippy is doing well, he gets very lively at times and waves his beak quite energetically! & he'll chirp at us if he feels we're neglecting him! He's still taking his time but seems to have perked up :)

We were worried about Pip's membrane so we carefully picked off a little bit of she'll and peeled back just a tiny bit of the membrane. No sign of any blood. Then we put him back in the bator, feeling a little defeated - and a couple of minutes later he was pushing against the opening!! He did that a few times then stopped, we'll trust that he's just resting for now :)

Thank you so much for your help!! I was going frantic and your advice has helped soooo much, you may have saved our babies!! :D

I know we're not out of the woods just yet but your advice has certainly made a huge difference :)

It's going to be a looooooong night!!!

Thank you nposluszny! I don't know why but your post only just appeared on my thread even though you posted a couple of hours ago. I don't know how that happened!! Thank you for the support and the bump :) we did help a little following MySweetChickens advice and it's really helped! We were very cautious and I think it really was at the point where we needed to intervene. So just a waiting game now...!

Im so glad they are both alive and well :D it sounds like you know what to do and im glad ive been able to help :D I will be subscribed to this thread so just post and ill see if i can help :p

Thank you so much! :D I really can't thank you enough, you were there just as we were giving in to despair and your advice just really helped us turn that corner! <3 I really don't know what our ducklings would have done without you :)

There's no real change just yet, Zippy is still being very lively at times, he hasn't got any further out but he doesn't seem distressed.

Pip has moved very slightly a couple of times, but he's still 99% resting. I doubt he'll make it out on his own but it seems too soon to go in and help just yet.

Thank you so much for being there for us! We'll let you know if there are any developments xx

Oh my gosh, I am soooooo happy!!!!!!!! I will subscribe and look forward to a photo when they are ready!

Thank you nposluszny! :D This is such a roller coaster, we really appreciate anyone who can hold our hands through this :)

Pip is moving around there a little, he's like our miracle baby! I'm really hoping he'll pull through. But, it looks like he's trying to poke through feathers, that's what we're seeing through the little pip we made.

On the other hand, he's clearly alive in there. Should we help him a little more or wait a while longer? This is to MySweetChickens too! It's so hard trying to find that line between leaving them be and helping :/ x

If these ducks still have not succeded in hatching themselves its time to finish the job for them what i like to do is gently pick away shell and membrane until there is a fair sized junk of shell and membrane intact (just enough for them to push out of) i remove the shell but leave the rest of the membrane of course if you see any blood stop immediately what we are trying to do is leave a "cap" of shell intact and connected to the egg so that when they are ready they just have to give a mighty push to escape do not force the duckling out of the shell let him/her push themselves out now if another 12 hours pass you can try gently encouraging them to leave the egg by applying a small amount of pressure to the cap or lying them on their side even both but if they are still not trying leave them nature knows best and if they dont think they are ready dont force it they will come out eventually xD mainly what we are trying to do is ensure they absorbed all of the yolk ALSO if the duckling pushes its head out the "cap" but the rest of it is still in dont coax or pull it out he will most definitely work it out on his own
This is what i have done for about 6-7 hatches now and never had a problem or death so far :p (also sorry about the late reply D: )
