Ok we've taken off a bit of the shell from the first egg, only in the air cell. We stopped when we saw a tiny spot of blood on the membrane, I think we uncovered it rather than caused it (I hope). Anyway he seems to have perked up a bit for now.
Don't know what to do about the other egg. We cleared a tiny hole in the membrane hours ago, he poked his beak out a couple of times when we made the hole but nothing since. The membrane looks brown. Should we try to open the shell up a bit more? I don't even know if he's still alive in there

it sounds like at least one of them is getting by as for the other if he didnt make it it wasnt your fault he likely had a internal deformity or just wasnt meant to be :/
we're calling the duckling who's partially zipped 'Zippy' for now and the duckling who pipped upside down 'Pip' Not the names they'll be keeping!
