PLEASE HELP Found hen behind freezer hurt, ???

It sounds like a fairly large prolapse. Were you able to find the other threads with prolapse information?

Diane has given you really good information. Keep it clean with saline solution. Use Prep H or I didn't have any so I used honey. Probably not the best thing but it worked. I kept the hen in a dark cage to slow down egg laying. I had to replace the prolapse about three times a day for 2 or 3 days. It finally stayed in place. I also trimmed the vent feathers to make it easier to keep clean, but made sure they weren't new blood feathers before I did that.

Good luck with your hen, yours does sound like a bigger prolapse than what my hen had.

Hey, everyone, Brian's wife here , Jessica. Yes, her prolapse is quite large and I have been applying Prep H everytime I "work" on her. However Like Brian mentioned, she can't keep it in at all anymore. It's like her vent is too stretched out now or something. Also, part of the prolapse is beginning to crack, like it's rotting. I've kept it moist with saline and of course the prep H but it's still looking like it's decaying. There are no feathers left to trim. All the feathers around the site are completely gone. Any more advice before we give up on this old gal??
Thanks so much,
Jessica Moore
