Please HELP... How can I save the rest ?

I have read that it is passed by mosquitos. So not much you can do other than isolate the infected bird.

I am just guessing that they have all been exposed already though and may get it.

The antibiotics probably help with any secondary infections.

I am sorry you are going through this.

oh my gosh how hard for you! I am no expert but one one told me the other day that birds rarely die of the main diseases but of secondary infections brought on by the weakening caused by the main issue. I am taking that as green light to treat with anitbiotics when in doubt.

Antibiotics will not help against viruses. It sounds like the antibiotics were for treating open lesions so they don't get infected from other sources. Ah, here...

Treatment
None. Flocks and individuals still unaffected may be vaccinated, usually with chicken strain by wing web puncture. If there is evidence of secondary bacterial infection broad-spectrum antibiotics may be of some benefit.

that's from this site, http://www.thepoultrysite.com/diseaseinfo/63/fowl-pox-pox-avian-pox

The
problem with usuing antibiotics without knowing the specific infection, (which you won't at this time) is it is often not effective and can cause other trouble. I suggest going to talk to a vet about it, even if they won't treat chickens directly, and ask what might be the best broad-spectrum antibiotic would do the most good... unless someone here who is a regular responder about illness can make a suggestion.

I think the main thing - if you find other chickens getting the lesions, is to put neosporin (withOUT pain reliever) or iodine on the individual lesions to help prevent secondary infection.

Also, is it possible that this chicken had the wet pox, instead of dry? It is my understanding that the wet fowl pox is much more dangerous.

And i hope you're being careful about your clothes and shoes between flocks so that you don't carry anything from one place to the other, since the scabs or whatever that the bird sloughs off can carry the virus......

This is what I have heard about the pox - "wet" is more dangerous and a big problem!!! If you still have the roo's body, pry open his mouth - if he has lesions INSIDE the mouth and throat, it is more likely WET pox than dry pox. Let us know what you find...

I am sorry you lost your chicken.

Wish I could be of some help, but I have no experience with anything except red, swollen, feather footed rooster feet.
