Are the chicks in the house? Do you have possums? Could a rat get at them? I would bring them in until I figured out was was getting them. I kept my babies in the house on a table in a large pen a lot of kids put gerbils in. The cage is strong and no room for anything to get at them. It's hot here now but you can't keep them in air conditioning below 65 degrees. I wouldn't cut anything off until you talk with a vet. Hey I think I broke one of my 12 week old girl's leg. I'm calling a vet about it tomorrow and I feel awful. We have to read and ask questions and do what we're doing getting support. Hang
help something attacked my baby chicks and ripped off their wings!!!!!! i don’t know what happened or what did it but they seem to have no other injuries, just missing a wing!!!! that’s happened last night and i put them in a dark brooder box in the house so they could calm down because they were really stressed out. now they are not in shock anymore and seem to be completely fine and eating and drinking and walking around. they do not look like they are in pain, and not being any more noisier than usual. i don’t know what to do. what should i give them medicine wise? am i gonna have to put them down if it gets infected? PLEASE help i have NO IDEA what i’m doing!!!! also, the first white chick has a bit dangling off by a very thin thread. should i cut it off or let it fall off?
I hope things have gotten better. I found a veterinarian who works on birds in Arkansas so I bet there is one close to you.
