Hi all,
I am brand new to raising chickens, and loving it!!!! We got our 6 'ladies" from a woman the next town over who raises all sorts of chickens/ducks etc. She said we had 6 chickens, but i am not convinced. From all the wonderful info I have been reading in this forum I think that 3 of the 6 may be roo's. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

the one on the right has no tail feathers...roo???? They are about 4-5 weeks old

these RIR are 8 weeks old. the "lady" on the left has a much larger comb...roo???

the wyandottes are also 8 weeks old. The one on the right has a much larger comb also...roo??

Thanks for for input. If they are roosters, she said she would exchange them. Do I need to worry about introducing 3 new chickens into the mix? has a pecking order already been established?

As many times as I have denied it to myself regarding my peeps, the comb size gives it a way. Im guessing the ones with the obvious larger comb development over the others are males. Sorry, but that has always proven true for my babies.

On the RIR, I'm not sure. The comb is noticeably bigger on the left chick than the one on the right BUT, it is not very pink, there are no noticeable wattles and for 8 weeks, if it were a roo, I would expect the comb to be bigger, redder and with more noticeable wattles. On the top pair, the lack of tail is not necessarily a sign it is a roo. Do you have a head shot of the first pair? There is nothing in the feathers that is screaming roo to me at this stage. And do you have a full body shot of the RIR's? On the Wyandottes, the thing that sticks out to me is the single comb. I thought Wyandotte's all have rose combs? My GLW has a rose comb. So - are you sure its a Wyandotte? The comb is kind of pink for the GLW but again, no noticeable wattles. A full body shot of the dottes would be helpful also.

Well to be honest the seller did not lie to you. They are all CHICKENS.
