PLEASE HELP!! I THINK MY HEN HAS SOUR CROP

Poor baby!! She is very pretty! So her crop is pretty big right now? Have you checked her vent just to make sure there's no stuck egg? I reread your original post about finding the half egg shell. Does she lay daily?

I haven't inspected her crop in about 5-6 hours because I was at a friends house. As soon as I get home I will check her crop. I will also check her vent. Yes she is my prettiest RIR. Her name is Jackie.

Ok I felt her crop it feels about the same as earlier. I also collected 3 eggs and I got 3 eggs earlier so that totals us at 6 eggs so she must have laid a egg. She lays a egg daily or every other day I think because we usually 4-6 eggs a day and about once or twice a week we get 3 eggs. I gave her some water with Epsom salts in it for her diarrhea. She was trying to eat regular layer feed but I didn't let her. I gave her some watermelon and tomato. She is really thin I felt as I picked her up to she's only about 3-4 pounds.

My mom said if Jackie is not better by morning she will call our local vet so see if they even deal with chickens

Jackie is doing much better. I went to check on her this morning and she was laying a egg. I picked her up and her crop has gone completely back to normal. She was even trying to eat her regular layer feed. I made a mush of layer feed, water, watermelon juice, Epsom salt, and a little pinch of poultry electrolytes. She ate that up in a hurry. She has been alternating between diarrhea and some what mushy poo. We'll see how she does. My mom called around and our regular vet doesn't do chickens, but a vet in our neighboring town does so that's a really good thing. My grandma is picking up some unsweetened Greek yogurt for Jackie to.

Yes, I think it was the crop massage and the bit of oil

Jackie was devouring her food earlier.

She was getting her yogurt and layer feed mix of food everywhere She was getting it on her beak, comb, waddles and the kitchen floor. Silly girl.
