I am sorry to repost this but its killing me not knowing. Originally was told these were BR....they are not. BSL? Australorp? Is there a beak color difference between the 2? Are they something totally different?

I also vote Black Australorps. The white in the wings is common with them but will be gone after they molt to adult plumage. They can also have variable coloration in their beaks and combs at this age.

I think you can't say for sure what they are. Australorps, Black Orpingtons, black sexlinks, black Rocks all look similar at this age. When the leg color starts to change to the adult color and not baby pinkish, then you may be able to tell.

I'm not saying this with 100% certainty, but they look almost identical to my 3 week old black jersey giants I have in my brooder right now.

I dont think they could be jersey giants, the people i got them from dont raise them.

Speckledhen, what do you think i should look for?

Bottom of an Australorps feet would be white. A Jersey Giant's would be yellow. When the kids are slightly older, you'll have a better idea. Can't go just by looks on a black or white chick of this age due to the similarity of several breeds.

What do they raise that has been mentioned? Because yes, there are a few black chick breeds that look very similar but if you know the people you bought them from only have two of those possibilities, well, that makes it a whole lot easier to say which it is. Of course, if they were the ones who told you these were Barred Rocks, perhaps they don't know what they have.
