Please help identify this skin problem. Pics!

Im guess its a molt. My roo does this once a year, and is currently looking a lot like that in the areas where feathers are missing and just regrowing back in.

That pink patch is really a lot deeper red in color. He has no tail feathers currently and little tail and butt area are red. Im guessing it is from the sun on pretty sensitive skin.

It doesn't look like sunburn to me - it almost looks like some sort of allergic reaction. If she were mine, I'd separate her & start her on an extremely basic food regimen (different from waht she is currently eating) just to see if it goes away.

ETA: This does not look like molt to me, either, but I'm no expert.

That looks very much like one of my RIR's back where the roo has made her lose her feathers. Lost the roo to a coyote about 3 weeks ago and the skin is losing it's redness and some feathers are starting to return. My girls have shade, so I think it's just irritation, rather than sunburn. None of my other hens' backs were that red, even though they also had feather loss because of "Bob". I had just started to work on making hen aprons when we lost Bob.

Looks like my australorp's rear last year. We used blu-kote, neosporin, treated for bugs, but could never figure out what it was and she's the only one who had it. She's the #2 hen, the Hench-hen, so no one picks on her. We only had 1 roo for several hens last year, so I don't think it was the roo. I thought I was going to have to make her special sweatpants for the Winter, but she molted and grew her feathers back. Haven't had any nakedbutts this year.

I treated my boy multiple times with Frontline for puppies and kittens just to make sure it wasnt something more than sunburn from molting.
