Please help (injured baby pigeon)

That makes more sense, especially since I found that first one who died in the same spot. Since he refused to eat the mashed up egg until I diluted it with water and gave it to him with a syringe would he really eat seeds alright on his own? Or is there a way to convince him to open his mouth?
Is it starting to stand up yet? Once mine was over two weeks, I had a dish of seed, similar to what I posted, for him and he just went for it himself.

He isn’t but I think it’s cause his leg got injured too, he’s acting a lot more excited about eating now and even tries to move his wings a bit to beg. I put together a little nest for him last night so he could sit in it with just enough room for his legs to fit through the hole for blood circulation. I got him some seeds and put it up near his face so he can try to peck at them if he’s curious enough.

You're taking such good care of him. Hopefully, he starts munching on those seeds! He's going to need a little bit of grit in a separate dish. Don't mix it in his food as too much isn't good for them, but they do need a little in their gizzard to grind up the seeds.

I’ve looked up pictures of pigeons and doves and it turns out I was mistaken. His parents are Eurasian collared doves. I don’t know much about this subject but it looks like wildlife rehabs either won’t accept them or will euthanize them. I have 5 cats and while I trust 1 with chicks, the other 4 are only good around grown chickens. If I do keep him (is that legal?) could he be kept with chickens? I have a few segregated flocks including a couple of mixed bantam roosters who are usually pretty chill as they’ve never been around hens. I don’t want to give up on him, especially cause he wouldn’t be in such an awful position if I hadn’t mangled him by opening my gate :(
Yes, you can keep him as a pet. :love I think your wildlife will take him. Our wildlife here takes them in🥰

Thank you, he’s very uninterested in the seeds but he shoves his face into the formula so I’m not too worried about his eating. I got a better look at his legs today now that he’s more comfortable with being handled and I don’t know if his leg is something that can be healed at this point :(. It’s twisted backwards with his foot facing upwards and I think it broke in two spots. It’s pinned against his body and I’m sure he can’t move it, I’m going to try and get a vet to see him but most in my area are pretty unhelpful when it comes to avians

I'll wait until you're back from the rehap. If you wind up bringing it home with you, you'll either need to get it to a vet, or we'll help you figure out how to splint it. There are many articles in BYC on how to do it, but I'll wait until you find out.
