I was going to suggest this also. Please check your other birds beaks for softness, peeling, sponginess, anything out of the norm. Pay particular attention for the area right against the face. Look for anything unusual. Silkies are so fluffy it would be easy to miss something developing. If you can afford it and there's a bird vet in your area have them look at your poor survivor. And by all means, get that chicken wire covered with hardware cloth.
I'm so sorry for you having to deal with this. It's one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen. I hope you get to the bottom of it. Maybe the remaining girls should spend a few days in a crate in the house see if anything happens with them. Perhaps a trap in your run.....
